Do one thing at a time
Based on time and accuracy (e.g. comprehension of text read), multitasking is not as efficient as you think it is. Even with evolving expectations in our busy society, the human brain is limited in how much it can process at the same time, especially if it requires the same parts of the brain.
Avoiding multitasking is unrealistic, but maybe we can Multitask better?

Despite perceptions that multitasking is efficient, studies generally show that doing one task at a time is more efficient (based on the time and accuracy) than doing two tasks at the same time. That’s because the human brain is limited in terms of how much information it can process at a given time.
