Charcoal portrait

Another charcoal portrait study, homework again from Stephanie Sheppard. It was an extra challenge drawing from a colour reference rather than one which is already in greyscale - I had to trust my eyes to figure out the values. I really struggled with the nose and mouth and once again had to erase half the face to start over!

Working on this in the mild weather of late winter in Perth, I really enjoyed drawing outdoors in the courtyard, which I like to call my "outdoor studio".
